Next week, we say goodbye to Fiona, our clinical director and branch manager who is leaving us for pastures new.
Fiona has been amazing to work with and she will be sorely missed by all her colleagues and clients.
We are also delighted to announce that our new Clinical Director is Jo Maxwell, who is transferring from our main hospital in Hartford.
Here are a few words from Jo

My name is Jo Maxwell and I am delighted to be joining the team at The Firs Veterinary Surgery as Clinical Director.

I grew up in Hartford and qualified from The University of Liverpool in 2012 having trained to be a Vet as a second degree. I have grown up within the Willows Vet Group (started out as a kennel assistant aged 15!) and after spending four years in practices in and around the North West post qualifying, I have spent the last five years working at The Willows Veterinary Hospital in Hartford where many of you may have come across me if we’ve ever had to hospitalise one of your pets. I have gained a huge amount of experience there over the years and hope to bring that with me to The Firs.

As a student I always said I would like to be the Vet that the clients would like to see and the nurses want to work with, and I like to think I’ve achieved that over the years. I am very much a GP vet and enjoy both medicine and surgery, but what I am very passionate about is working with people and their pets to work out the best treatment plan for every individual, whatever the circumstances. I always feel privileged to witness the bond people have with their pets as I know how much my pets mean and have meant to me.

Outside of work I have a very lovable yellow Labrador who goes by the name of Alfie and is very much my sidekick! He thinks everyone should be his friend and never fails to put a smile on people’s faces with his enthusiasm for life!

In my free time I love spending time with my family and getting out and about walking and exploring the beautiful countryside the north west has to offer.

I am really looking forward to getting to know the award winning team at The Firs and meeting all of the clients and their pets! See you all soon!
